DR. TANG'S 2024
ERMI ALTERNATIVES FOR HOME MOLD TESTING
VISION
It's Time to Upgrade ERMI
The 19-year-old outdated ERMI technology has been providing mixed results for homeowners for the past 19 years. It's time to get an upgrade.

2024 TOP 4 ERMI ALTERNATIVES
ERMI Alternative 1 (MOST Recommended)
Does a cancer patient call a surgeon to start taking out body parts before an oncologist can pinpoint where the cancer cells are? Don't do that to your house and waste your money on unnecessary repairs. Contact Dr. Wei Tang for trustworthy referrals here.

MAIN REASON: None of those mold test kits in this world can locate the hidden mold for you
ERMI Alternative 2
EMOP
Environmental Mold Origin Profile
- Available NOW
DNA can come from dead/broken cells or live ones. The DNA evidence of a serial killer on the surfaces of a crime scene does not kill you. Only the alive and kicking serial killer does.
Likewise, if you test for the DNA evidences of mold, you are going to have false positive results from dead and broken mold cells that cannot actively produce mycotoxins, airborne odorous gas, or other harmful substances. EMOR detect viable mold cells that can actively produce mycotoxins and other harmful substance, which corelates with active mold growth much better.
On the other hand, if you only test for of 36-species mold, you are going to miss the other hundreds of indoor mold species and have false negative results. The other hundreds of viable mold species can be potentially harmful and cause diseases to not only the sensitive subpopulations and also the general population.
And, that's two of the many reasons that ERMI has been giving mixed results from time to time.
MAIN REASON: Only viable (live) mold cells can actively produce mycotoxins and other harmful substance, not the dead ones with DNA.
ERMI Alternative 3
BEMP
Biorelevant Environmental Mold Profile - Available in May 2024
If you only test for the DNA evidences of 36-species mold, you are going to miss the other hundreds of indoor mold species and have false negative results. The other hundreds of mold species can be potentially harmful and cause diseases to not only the sensitive subpopulations and also the general population.
BEMP analyze for intracellular DNA (iDNA) of intact cells of hundreds of mold species that can be found in the indoor environment. It excludes the majority of DNA from broken mold cells to reduce the frequency of false positive results, like ERMI commonly has.
And, that's one more reason that ERMI has not been giving consistent results in the past 19 years.
MAIN REASON: Testing hundreds, even thousands, of mold species is more comprehensive than just 36 species.

ERMI Alternative 4
AIMTOP
All-Inclusive Microbial Toxins Origin Potential - Available in May 2024
There are hundreds of microbial toxins, e.g. mycotoxins, endotoxins, and glucans, that can be found in indoor environments. They can come from mold and bacteria, including Actinomycetes. AIMTOP goes for the sources and tests them all! On the internet, you can find expensive home tests of mycotoxins ($250), endotoxins ($150), glucan ($170), ERMI ($250), and Actinomycetes ($250). You could spend over $1,000 and still don't know where they are coming from because you didn't try to find their sources. It's more cost-effective and remediation-efficient to find the sources and remove them all.
If you are going to spend over $1,000 on home testing kits, you might as well hire an Elite IEP (See alternative 1) to find the sources of indoor microbial toxins pollution. If you are not ready to hire an assessor yet, you can try using AIMTOP ($350) first. It tests for all the microorganisms including those that are capable of producing mycotoxins, endotoxins, glucan, plus ERMI species and Actinomycetes. It also detects hundreds of non-ERMI mold (also can be as harmful) and all bacteria other than Actinomycetes. It's an all-inclusive testing.
On a battlefield, all potential threats need to be neutralized. You cannot just shoot down missiles that are already in the air and warplanes are bombing your cities. Only a Ph.D. microbiologist can tell you that there are many microorganisms that are either dormant or slowly growing in your house. They may not produce microbial toxins right now, but they definitely will when the temperature, moisture, and nutrients are in their favor. Test for all potential sources and remove them all to protect your health!
MAIN REASON: You cannot just test for ten out of hundreds of different microbial toxins that can be found in your house. It's absolutely necessary to test for all the potential sources (origins).
